The Peloton bike crank arm is probably the weakest part of a Peloton, so it is not surprising that you may find it damaged. Some will bend during the transition, others are broken, yet others get damaged from the impact of a wrongly placed pedal.
Regardless of the situation, it is evident that the crank arm needs replacement if it is not working. In most cases, Peloton will send support staff or even an XPO delivery company to deliver the replacement service. However, the service may take a long time, and if it is possible for you to take the reins, then why not?
But first;
What is a Peloton Bike Crank Arm?
A bike crank arm refers to the offset part of the bike that supports and attaches the pedals to the crankshaft. If it malfunctions, the pedals will fail as well, or they could come off the bike, which is risky.
So, How to Replace a Peloton Arm Crank?
You will need the following tools to remove and replace a Peloton crank arm successfully;
- A crank puller (24mm) – Available on Amazon
- 5mm Allen key
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Spanner
How to Remove a Peloton Arm Crank
- Turn the resistance knob all the way to the right, which will keep the pedals from moving during the process.
- Using a Phillips screw head driver, remove the belt screws around the belt. This will loosen the belt cover so you can remove it from the bike with ease.
- Next, use the 8mm Allen key to rotate the hex bolt connecting the crank arm to the shaft to the left to loosen it. Then, remove the hex bolt and keep it safe because you will need it during replacement.
- Finally, you can use the crank puller. First, loosen the bolts at the silver head of the crank puller. Then, put the silver piece at the top of the crank arm where you removed the hex bolt. Tighten the loosed crank puller bolts onto the crank arm to the right until they feel tight and can’t turn anymore. Next, turn the black arm of the crank puller to the right as you apply some force on the crank arm. This will pull the crank arm out. So, unscrew the crank puller from the crank arm and place them separately.
- After that, use a spanner to remove the pedal from the crank arm if the pedal is still functional.
- Then, using a 5mm Allen key, loosen all the screws attaching the crank arm to its bracket. This will help you to easily remove the screws and hence remove the crank arm from its bracket.
